      Omm Shiva

Mahadeva is Bhasma Bhushithan. Bhasma signifies Shiva. Mahadeva, the Samharamurti, purifies all living beings by incinerating them.

Bhasma consists of dung, one of the pancha gavayas, which includes cow's milk, curd, butter, cow urine and cow dung. Ash is the purest prasad because it has been purified by fire. Bhasma is the most pure prasad that we get from temples. Ashes burning dung are symbolic of cremation.

Ashes can be worn on the forehead, neck, chest and limbs. If it is worn on the hand, the sin committed by the hand will be destroyed, if it is worn on the breast, the sin committed by the mind, and if the ash is worn around the neck, the sin committed by the throat will be destroyed. Ash is what remains after everything in the world. Nothing can destroy it. Even fire can do nothing more than burn everything to ashes. All the pride and glory of man ends in a handful of ashes. A scholar and a layman, a king and a subject, a rich man and a poor man, a Brahmin and a Chandalan are all equal before Chitagni. A person who wears ashes on his forehead is not only putting on his Shiva status but also receiving the blessings of Shiva.

Lord Shiva, wearing Kapala, rubs the cremation pyre with warmth. Thus Bhasma Bhusita advises his devotees to give up all the imperishable and embrace the immortal. Even the streak of death of one who wears bhasma regularly will disappear. There is no fate to perform Shiva Puja without wearing ashes. Everything is Haran.

Shiva form

Unlike other deities, Lord Shiva is a Jatadhari and a cremation dweller. The trident is still present in Shiva's hand. and flourishes in the crescent braid. Lord Shiva's body is composed of Rudraksha Mala and Nagas.

Trikann ✨

Another feature of Lord Shiva is the third eye on his forehead. Lord Shiva burnt Kamadeva with the fire from his three eyes. Shiva is also known as Trilochanan (tri = three; lochanam = eye) and Tryambakan (ambakam = eye) because he has three eyes.

Moonlight ✨

Lord Chandra always flourishes in Lord Shiva's Jatamauli. That is why names like Chandrasekharan, Chandramouli, Kaladharan are synonymous with Lord Shiva.

Blue throat 🔥

As a result of churning of the ocean, the deadly poison called Kalakootam came out. The oxen was a poison that had the power to destroy all the three worlds. Only Lord Shiva could contain the bullock. After drinking halahalam or bull poison, the Lord's neck turned blue. Since then Lord Shiva came to be known as Nilakanthan (Sanskrit).

Ganga River 💦

Ganga was the river that flowed through heaven. The Rishi called Bhagiratha began austerities to atone for the sins of his forefathers. The only way was to bring Ganga to earth. But if the Ganga falls from heaven to earth, the earth will not be able to stop its impact. So Lord Shiva bound the Ganga that fell from heaven to earth in his braid. Later, the Ganga river originates from the braid of Lord Shiva and flows through the land of India, washing away the sins of all people. Lord Shiva is also known as Gangadhara because he holds the Ganga in his braid.

Nagas ✨

Shiva is described as a god who adorns his body with snakes. Shiva always wears the cobra Vasuki around his neck.

Man ✨

Shiva is also depicted carrying a deer in his hand. It symbolizes that Shiva is freed from chanchalachitha. The human mind jumps from one thought to another like a deer. But Shiva is omniscient, unfeeling and immutable.

Trident 🔥

The trident is the special weapon of Lord Shiva. The trident symbolizes the three qualities of Satguna, Tamoguna and Rajoguna held in the right hand of Lord Shiva. Trident is also considered as a symbol of sovereignty.

Darmaru 🔥

Dhamaru in Shiva's left hand signifies Shabda Brahma. There is also a belief that the Sanskrit language originated from Dhamaru Naada.
